The story behind the Picotin Lock
A supple, bucket-like bag closed by a leather strap and padlock; a picotin is a measure of oats for a horse. Lining, handles and accessories vary by size and edition.
Read the Picotin Lock referenceThe Eclat designation indicates a two-tone execution with contrasting leather on the handles and interior lining. The body is Clemence, a supple bull calf with a relaxed grain, while the handles and interior are Swift, a smooth calfskin with a tighter surface. Interior is lined with natural suede leather, no interior pockets, with a pull-through closure secured by padlock. Palladium hardware.
Collector's Insight:
Eclat Picotins pair two leathers and two colors in a single production run, making each combination season-specific. Orange Minium is a saturated, red-leaning orange introduced in recent seasons, and Rose Azalee is a vivid pink that Hermès has rotated selectively. This pairing does not repeat once the production window closes.
Resale Insight:
Picotin Lock 18 is the most requested size in the Picotin range on the secondary market. Eclat versions with rotated color pairings draw more interest than single-color versions, particularly new with full accessories.
