A vintage Kelly 28 as canvas. The base is Noir Box Sellier, Hermès's original smooth calfskin with its characteristic semi-gloss finish and structural rigidity. The JaneFinds Custom Shop commissioned hand-painted artwork across the entire front face: "The Qashqai," referencing the textile traditions of Persian nomadic tribes. The painting renders stylized flora, fauna, geometric tribal motifs, and bird figures in earth tones (ochre, rust, azure, cream) against the black leather as negative space. Trees, stars, camels, and rosettes are distributed across the surface in a density and rhythm that echoes hand-woven kilim composition. The effect reads as tapestry translated onto leather.
Gold hardware aligns with the warm palette. The flap, handle, sangles, and tournante remain unpainted, preserving the Kelly's structural hardware vocabulary in clean black Box against the saturated front panel.
