Hermès Unique Silk ‘Art des Steppes’ Yurt Runway Bag - 1991

Sale price$25,000.00 USD

Hermès 991 Unique Silk ‘Art des Steppes’ Yurt Runway Bag 1991

This unique bag, created for the 1991 runway collection with Annie Faivre’s new scarf design “Art des Steppes,” is one of the most unusual and striking Hermès designs ever realised. Shaped as an elaborate Yurt with three openings at the top mimicking the petals of a lotus flower, the concave back rests perfectly against the body. The unique strap allows for easy use, or can be switched for any other strap. This is a piece that not only looks great on the arm, but also on the shelf. Covered in silk inside and out, this bag has been maintained in exceptional condition, a true collector’s piece.

Interior is lined in matching leather. Hermès craftsmanship is evident in the hand-stitched saddle stitch, a technique that uses two needles working in opposite directions through pre-punched holes. Each piece is completed by a single artisan.
