Jean-Paul Gaultier’s Shadow Birkin remains one of Hermès’ most inventive designs—reinterpreting the iconic Birkin as a minimalist open-top tote with embossed sangles, lock, and flap sculpted directly into soft Swift leather. Originally released in 2009–2010, the Shadow was reissued in ultra-limited numbers, making this 25cm Gold edition exceptionally rare.
This version in Hermès’ classic Gold Swift leather is in pristine, store-fresh condition. Functional snap-ended sangles and a debossed clochette motif on the back panel elevate the design’s subtle complexity. As the only Birkin constructed on a completely distinct chassis, the Shadow holds a singular place in the Hermès archive and remains a grail for collectors worldwide.
