Birkin 25 Picnic in Gold Swift calfskin and striped Osier wicker. Sellier construction. The upper flap, rolled handles, sangles (front straps), and clochette are Gold Swift leather with white contrast stitching. The body is hand-woven Osier (willow) wicker in alternating bands of natural and Gold-dyed wicker, creating a horizontal stripe pattern. Leather lacing along both side gussets joins the wicker body to the leather structure. Palladium tournante closure, palladium sangle plaques, padlock, and two keys. Interior lined in Gold Swift leather with one zip pocket and one slip pocket.

The Picnic Birkin requires two Hermès artisans working in sequence: a specialist basket weaver forms the Osier wicker body, then a master saddler constructs and attaches the leather elements. Production time is approximately ten hours per bag. Osier is a natural willow that is rigid when dry but can soften or warp with prolonged moisture exposure ; the wicker body is not water-resistant and should not be exposed to rain or humidity. Swift calfskin is smooth, fine-grained, and shows scratches more readily than textured leathers; minor surface marks can be buffed out. The striped Osier variant uses wicker strands dyed to match the leather color, interwoven with natural undyed strands ; the dyed sections may shift slightly in tone over time with light exposure.

The Hermès Picnic line began in 2011 when Jean-Paul Gaultier introduced the Picnic Kelly 35 during his final Hermès show ; the first time Osier wicker was used structurally in a full Hermès bag. Hermès subsequently released Picnic versions of the Garden Party, Farming, and Bolide, and miniaturized the Kelly to a Picnic Mini Kelly 20. The Picnic Birkin 25 was introduced in 2021, produced only in the 25 cm size. This example is the striped Osier variant, which alternates dyed and natural wicker ; a distinct configuration from the solid natural Osier Picnic Birkin also produced in Gold Swift. Both require palladium hardware; gold hardware is not offered on Picnic bags. Swift is the standard leather for Picnic Birkins; early examples also appeared in Barenia.
