Hermès Kelly Doll Quelle Idole Orange H Gulliver Palladium Hardware
Hermès Kelly Doll Quelle Idole Orange H Gulliver Palladium Hardware
The Kelly Doll, officially named Quelle Idole, was designed by Jean-Louis Dumas and released in 2000 to mark the millennium. The Kelly's architecture is reinterpreted as figurative form: the turnlock becomes a face, the sangles function as articulated arms, and sculpted leather feet allow the piece to stand upright. A handheld-only piece with no removable strap, distinct from the later Picto reissue. The first-generation production ran 2000 through approximately 2005, with eight original colorways: Orange H, Rouge H, Noir, Noisette, Bleu Saphir, Vert Olive, Vert Cru, and Rouge Vif. Gulliver is the discontinued predecessor to Swift, retired in the early 2000s, with a saturation and depth that gives Orange H a richness modern leathers don't replicate. Every first-generation Kelly Doll in Gulliver comes from the original 2000-2005 production window. Square D 2000 stamp confirms first-year production.

Collector's Insight: The Kelly Doll was retired by 2005, making the total first-generation production window approximately five years. Orange H is the house's signature color and the most symbolically loaded shade in the Hermès palette, carrying particular weight on the millennium piece. Pristine condition on a 25-year-old Gulliver example indicates careful storage from a private collection.
Resale Insight: First-generation Kelly Dolls in Gulliver leather have averaged near $45,000 at recent auction with pink examples exceeding $95,000. Orange H holds particular appeal as the house color on the millennium piece. Privé Porter places current collector value range at $60,000-$130,000+ depending on color, condition, and provenance.
