Hermès Kelly Doll Quelle Idole Picto Mauve Sylvestre, Nata, Chai and Lime Epsom Palladium Hardware

The Picto is the pixelated reissue of the Kelly Doll, the Quelle Idole figure Jean-Louis Dumas introduced in 2000, redrawn with an 8-bit face and body. Where the original used softly curved leather cuts, the Picto is built in geometric marquetry: each pixel is cut and edge-painted as a separate piece, and Epsom's rigidity holds the angles where four or five color blocks meet.

Mauve Sylvestre, a dusty pastel lilac, forms the body. Nata draws the whites of the eyes, Chai the arms and feet, and Lime the accent on the lower torso. A removable Nata backpack pouch clips to the back, a feature the original Quelle Idole never carried, and the detachable shoulder strap makes the piece wearable rather than purely displayed.

Collector's Insight:
The original Kelly Doll was withdrawn from regular production in 2005 and returned only in limited runs between 2008 and 2010. The Picto arrived in 2022 and has run in rotating colorways since, each in small quantities. The marquetry sets the limit on output: every pixel is cut, edge-painted and set by hand, and one misaligned block spoils the panel.

Resale Insight:
Kelly Dolls are priced on their own terms rather than against standard Kellys, because buyers are acquiring an object rather than a bag to carry. Each colorway runs in small numbers, so supply in a given palette is fixed once the run closes, and the backpack pouch and strap are part of the piece buyers check for.
