Hermès Kelly 28 Sellier Bleu Céleste Epsom Palladium Hardware

Kelly 28 Sellier in Bleu Céleste Epsom with Palladium hardware. Bleu Céleste translates to "celestial blue," a pale sky blue that sits lighter than Bleu Glacier and more vibrant than Bleu Pâle. There's no grey in it, no green, no lavender pull. Just clean, saturated pastel blue. On Epsom the color holds its brightness across the entire surface because the pressed crosshatch grain reflects light evenly rather than absorbing it into texture. That reflective quality is what makes pale blues work on Epsom in a way they don't on softer leathers, where the nap or grain would mute the saturation. Pair that with Palladium and the whole bag stays in one tonal lane: cool, bright, no warmth anywhere.

Sellier construction at 28 cm. External stitching, waxed edges, sharp corners. The seams sit on the outside of the bag and the edges are finished with hand-applied beeswax, which means every line and angle is visible and must be flawless. Epsom's permanent rigidity is what makes Sellier at this size hold its geometry without any help from the contents inside; an empty Epsom Sellier stands on its own with the same silhouette as a full one. The 28 cm is the size that balances formal proportions with genuine daily capacity. It fits a phone, a wallet, keys, sunglasses, and a small pouch without crowding, while still reading as a structured occasion piece when carried by the handle. Single top handle, detachable shoulder strap. Interior lined in Chèvre with one zip pocket and two slip pockets. U stamp, 2022 production.

Collector's Insight: Bleu Céleste was a seasonal color, not a permanent palette addition. It ran for a limited number of seasons and is no longer available at retail. Hermès revisits the pale blue register every few years under different names (Bleu Brume, Bleu Pâle, Bleu Glacier, Bleu Zéphyr), but each has a distinct hue and production window. They are not interchangeable, and collectors who want Bleu Céleste specifically cannot substitute another. Sellier in Epsom is the most commonly requested Kelly construction for colors like this because the rigid, light-reflective surface shows the shade at its most accurate. The same blue on Togo Retourne would read softer and slightly darker due to the grain's depth and the turned-in construction's rounded profile.

Resale Insight: Kelly 28 Sellier in seasonal blues trades above standard pricing once the color exits production. The premium holds because the supply is fixed: once a seasonal color is discontinued, no new examples enter the market. Bleu Céleste with Palladium is a fully cool-toned combination that appeals to collectors who avoid warm hardware pairings entirely. Pristine condition with full set from 2022 production is three years old and still uncarried, which puts it at the top of the condition spectrum for this vintage. Epsom Sellier holds its shape indefinitely regardless of use, which makes long-term condition easier to maintain than softer leathers in Retourne construction.
