Hermès Constance 18 Nata leather Rose 2021 Z Swift Gold Hardware

The Hermès Constance bag was first designed by Catherine Chaillet in 1959 and was given the name in honor of her fifth child, Constance, having delivered the baby the same day that the first Constance left the Hermès production store. With its leather shoulder strap allowing the bag to hang freely, it soon became the favorite former First Lady of the United States, Jacqueline Kennedy who popularized the Constance amongst Hollywood’s elite.

The Constance features Hermès' signature H-clasp closure, one of the most recognizable hardware elements in the house's vocabulary. Interior is lined in matching leather with a center divider, front slip pocket, and rear slot pocket. The crossbody strap is adjustable.

JaneFinds Collector's Insight: The Constance is produced in significantly smaller quantities than the Birkin or Kelly, making it one of the more difficult Hermès bags to acquire at retail. The 18cm format is particularly scarce.

JaneFinds Market Insight: The Constance has emerged as one of the strongest performers in the Hermès resale market, with demand increasingly rivaling the Birkin and Kelly. The 18cm and 24cm sizes in classic colors maintain particularly strong positioning.
