The story behind the Shoulder Birkin

Designed by Jean Paul Gaultier during his years directing Hermès women's ready-to-wear, from 2003 to 2010. The original dates to 2004, made in 40 and 42 cm until 2013, with a return in 2024 in 29 and 39 cm.

Gold, the house's classic warm tan, is worked here in Evercolor, a pressed calfskin with a tight, uniform grain that sits between Epsom's rigidity and Togo's softness. Gold hardware keeps it tonal.

The Shoulder Birkin answers the standard Birkin's main limitation, the lack of hands-free wear, and Gold on gold is one of the most classic Hermès specifications.
