Hermès Birkin 40 Fauve Barenia Leather Gold Hardware - 1994, X Circle
While today, Hermes is known for producing the most luxurious objects in the world, its equestrian heritage is well known to fans of the house. The material that connects most strongly to these roots is Barenia: a supple, smooth, warm tan leather that patinas like nothing else, and shows off the House’s quality of craft and materials to the highest degree. The calf skins used to make this heritage leather must be absolutely perfect, which makes larger bags very difficult to come by. This stunning and very rare 40cm Birkin is made entirely of classic Fauve Barenia leather, accented with the iconic double saddle stitching in natural linen thread, and warm gold hardware. For over 25 years this bag has been lovingly cared for, developing a fantastic patina that only time could create. It stands ready for another 25 years of adventures!
40cm: 16" W x 8" D x 11.25" H
The term "hardware" refers to the metallic parts of the bag, such as the buckle hardware, base studs, lock and keys and/or strap, which are plated with a colored finish (e.g. gold, silver, palladium). The terms refer to the tone or color of the hardware and not the actual material used. If hardware is composed of precious solid metals this will be referenced in the description.
