The story behind the Birkin
Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.
Discover Hermès Birkin BagsBleu Zanzibar is a medium blue with teal undertones, sitting between Bleu Jean (lighter, more washed) and Bleu Agate (grayer, more muted) on the Hermès blue spectrum. Togo is a grained bull calf with scratch resistance and moderate structure. Gold hardware warms the cool blue body. Tonal stitching.
Collector's Insight:
Bleu Zanzibar is a seasonal color that has not been produced continuously. It occupies a tonal range that reads as a versatile everyday blue without skewing too bright or too dark. A stamp places this at 2017 production. Pristine condition at eight years suggests very limited use.
