Ostrich is one of Hermès' four primary exotic leathers, identified by the distinctive quill follicle pattern visible as raised circular indentations across the panel surface. Hermès sources from select South African farms and applies follicle density and pattern symmetry as selection criteria during cutting. The skin reads softer than crocodile or alligator while holding structure under wear, with the follicle pattern carrying color saturation differently than smooth-grain leathers. Fuchsia on Ostrich reads as vivid saturated magenta-pink with the follicle indentations holding slightly deeper pigment than the surrounding skin surface, producing visible texture-driven depth across the body panels. Interior lined in matching Chèvre Mysore with one zip pocket and two slip pockets.
