Hermès Kellygraphie 28 Sellier 'H' Lettre Vert Cypres Epsom Blue Obscur Sombrero Malachite Clemence Palladium Hardware

Kelly 28 Sellier from the Kellygraphie series. The letter H is constructed through leather marquetry — three distinct skins cut and inlaid flush across the front panel. Vert Cypres Epsom forms the body and Sellier frame. The vertical bars of the H are Blue Obscur Sombrero, a matte calfskin with a soft, uncoated surface. The horizontal crossbar is Malachite Clemence, a grained leather that reads lighter and warmer than the surrounding panels.

Three leathers, three textures on one surface. Epsom is pressed and rigid. Sombrero is smooth and matte with no surface finish — it absorbs light where Epsom reflects it. Clemence is tumbled with a looser grain than either. The joins between skins are flush, not overlaid — each piece is cut to exact dimension and set edge-to-edge. Sellier construction holds the entire composition flat. Palladium hardware keeps the palette cool throughout.

JaneFinds Collector's Insight:
The Kellygraphie series uses a 1930s Art Deco alphabet from the Hermès archives. The collection was produced to spell H-E-R-M-E-S, with additional letters available through special order. Each letter requires a different marquetry pattern — the H uses two vertical columns and one horizontal bar, meaning three separate inlay cuts on the front panel. Sombrero leather appears infrequently in Hermès bag production; its matte, uncoated surface provides the contrast that makes the letterform legible against the Epsom body. Malachite has since been retired from production.

JaneFinds Market Insight:
Kellygraphie pieces trade among design-focused collectors who value graphic distinctiveness over standard production configurations. The H letter is the most recognized in the series. Limited production quantities and three-leather construction place these outside the standard Kelly secondary market — pricing reflects scarcity of the specific series rather than comparison to single-color Kellys. Pristine condition on a 2019 production piece.
