Hermès Kelly Relax 50 Fauve Swift Palladium Hardware

The Kelly Relax takes the Kelly and removes its internal structure. Nothing holds the walls rigid, so the bag settles around what it carries and the silhouette reads as luggage rather than handbag. At 50 cm it is the largest expression of the format.

Swift is the calfskin the Relax was built around. Fine grained and matte in the hand, it is soft enough to collapse flat when the bag is empty and to fold over its contents when packed. It takes dye deeply, so color sits in the leather rather than on it. Swift marks more readily than a pressed grain, and those marks burnish back with handling instead of setting.

Fauve is the warm cognac tan, and on a leather this absorbent it reads deep and even across the panels, warming further where light catches the slouch. Palladium keeps the hardware cool against it.
