In Veau Doblis, Hermès' fine calf suede, the format takes on a softer surface character than its leather counterparts. Doblis is among the most delicate materials Hermès works with: water-sensitive, prone to marking, and difficult to maintain, which is why it appears almost exclusively in Special Collections and special-order production rather than regular catalog runs.
Turquoise reads as a vivid blue-green that the suede nap renders with depth and tonal shift, the surface catching light differently as the nap direction changes. Palladium hardware holds a cool register against the saturated blue. The I □ (2005) stamp places this within the square-stamp era, and Doblis pieces from this period are increasingly difficult to source in strong condition given the material's sensitivity to wear.
