Hermès Kelly Doll Quelle Idole Picto Bleu Royal, Nata, Gold and Noir Epsom Palladium Hardware
Bleu Royal forms the body in saturated royal blue, the Epsom grain holding the color flat across the surface so the marquetry reads clean against it.

The story behind the Kelly Doll
Designed by Jean-Louis Dumas and introduced in 2000; its other name, Quelle Idole, is a play on Kelly Doll. Hermès made limited runs from 2008 to 2010 to mark boutique openings, five pieces for the 2015 Leather Forever exhibition in Singapore, special orders from 2017, and the redesigned Kelly Doll Picto in Spring/Summer 2022.
Discover Hermès Kelly DollNata renders the splayed feet and the mitten hands in cream. A warm caramel-tan fills the pixelated mouth. Noir sits behind the cutouts that form the eyes, giving them depth rather than flatness. Against the neutral-bodied Picto colorways, where the accents register as tonal shifts, the saturated ground here turns them into graphic punctuation.
The format follows the Picto specification introduced for Spring/Summer 2022. A removable shoulder strap and a detachable pouch sized for a phone attach to the body, which moves the model out of pure objet territory and into something that can be worn. The sangles read as arms, the turn-lock as a nose, the flap cutouts as eyes. That is the joke Jean-Louis Dumas made in 2000 with the original Quelle Idole, rebuilt here in pixels.
Collector's Insight:
The Picto arrived for Spring/Summer 2022 in Mauve Sylvestre and Nata, with further colorways following. Bleu Royal sits among the more chromatically committed of them, leaning on a single dominant color rather than a tonal balance, which gives the marquetry sharper separation than the cream-bodied editions carry. Production remains deliberately limited and Hermès has continued to release new color combinations, so the line is defined by scarcity within each colorway rather than by a closed production window.
Resale Insight:
Picto results have climbed steadily at auction since the model's introduction, with the strongest figures going to multi-color palettes in untouched condition. Newly released colorways tend to peak early and settle as they circulate, which concentrates value on pristine examples retaining the full set rather than on rarity of the model itself. Bleu Royal draws collectors who track Hermès vivid blue allocations across the catalog and want the Picto framework with the impact of a saturated body color.
