Hermès Kelly Danse Vert Cru Swift Gold Hardware

Kelly Danse in Vert Cru Swift with Gold hardware. The original Kelly Danse, designed by Jean Paul Gaultier for his Fall 2004 debut Hermès collection. A transformable bag worn as a backpack, crossbody, shoulder bag, or belt bag by adjusting the single long strap through the Kelly-style handle. Vert Cru is a light, natural green with raw, unfinished undertones. Swift is a smooth, fine-grained calfskin with a matte surface that saturates color evenly. Gold hardware warms the green body. Kelly turn-lock closure on the front flap.

Collector's Insight: H Square places this at 2004, the year the Kelly Danse debuted on the runway as part of Jean Paul Gaultier's first collection for Hermès. First-year production pieces carry additional provenance for collectors interested in the design's origin. Vert Cru in Swift is a seasonal color and leather combination from the original production run. The Kelly Danse was discontinued before being reissued in 2024 as the Kelly Danse II with updated proportions.

Resale Insight: Original Kelly Danse bags from the Gaultier era trade at strong levels on the secondary market. First-year 2004 production pieces are the most collectible within the original run. Vert Cru is a less common color than Noir or Etoupe, giving this example added scarcity within an already limited production history.
