The story behind the Kelly Danse
Designed by Jean Paul Gaultier and introduced in 2008, discontinued in 2013 and reintroduced in 2019 as the Kelly Danse II. An adjustable strap lets it be carried as a clutch, on the shoulder, crossbody, at the waist or as a backpack.
Gold is one of Hermès's most iconic permanent-palette colors, a rich medium tan with warm undertones. Taurillon Novillo is a smooth, supple bull calf with a finer grain than Clemence and a softer hand than Epsom, introduced to the Hermès leather library in recent years. It takes color with high saturation and develops a subtle patina over time. Palladium hardware provides a cool contrast to the warm Gold leather. The Kelly Danse is a transformable design worn as a crossbody, shoulder, backpack, belt bag, hand carry, or clutch by adjusting the single long strap. Kelly turn-lock closure on the front flap.
Collector's Insight:
The original Kelly Danse was discontinued before the 2024 reissue as the Kelly Danse II. Taurillon Novillo is a less common leather on the Kelly Danse than Swift or Evercolor, as it was introduced to the Hermès range more recently. Gold is a permanent-palette color, but original-era Kelly Danse production in any color is now fixed supply. Pristine condition at five years suggests very limited use.
