It took the Kelly name in 1956, when Grace Kelly made it famous. Sellier construction keeps the seams on the outside for a more defined outline; Retourné construction turns them inside for softer edges. The leather does not decide the construction: Box calf Kellys are recorded in both.

Shiny Niloticus takes its mirror finish from hand-polishing the scales with an agate stone. Vert Véronèse, a deep green, reads almost black in low light and opens into green under direct light on the polished surface.

The Sellier construction keeps the seams on the outside and the panels rigid, so the scale rows stay aligned across the front and the graduated scaling runs uninterrupted from the flap through the body. Gold hardware gives the cool green a warmer accent.
