Twenty-eight centimeters in Sellier construction. Veau Doblis suede—Hermès's calf suede with its characteristic napped finish. The matte texture absorbs light rather than reflecting it; Black Doblis reads as deeper and softer than Black Box or Swift. Suede takes patina differently than smooth leather—the nap shifts and develops character with handling rather than showing wear as scratches. Gold hardware provides the only shine against the matte surface.
