Hermès Himalayan Chypre Limited Edition Sandals Matte Niloticus Crocodile Sz 39

Himalaya is the rarest finish Hermès produces: a graduated bleach and dye treatment applied to Niloticus crocodile that fades from pale smoke at the spine to near white at the belly, named for the mountain range it evokes rather than for any pigment. The house applies it sparingly and almost always to handbags. Finding it on footwear is a different order of scarcity entirely.

The Chypre is the maison's open sandal, normally a calfskin or suede piece and instantly recognizable by its wide crossed forefoot strap and the H cut into the sole. Executed in matte Niloticus, the model becomes something else: the crocodile scaling reads across the strap in graduated tone, matte rather than glossed, so the pattern carries the eye without shine. A black anatomical insole supports the foot, the durable black rubber sole carries the embossed H, and an adjustable closure sets the fit.

Presented unworn in EU 39, corresponding to US 8 to 8.5, complete with the original sleepers and Hermès box.

Collector's Insight: Hermès produces exotic footwear in far smaller numbers than exotic handbags, and the Himalaya treatment is the most restricted finish in the exotic program, requiring hides that take the graduated dye evenly across the full skin. A Himalaya Chypre is therefore a limited execution within a limited category, made in a size run rather than allocated as a single piece, and it surfaces on the secondary market only occasionally.

Resale Insight: Exotic footwear trades in a narrow market because the buyer must match the size, which means supply and demand are both small and pricing turns on rarity of execution rather than comparables. Unworn condition with the original box and sleepers is the defining variable, since worn soles and stretched straps cannot be restored on crocodile.
