Hermès Farming Picnic Bucket Osier Wicker Barenia Gold Hardware
Farming Picnic Bucket in Osier wicker and Barenia leather with Gold hardware. A limited edition bucket silhouette from the Spring/Summer 2015 Picnic program. The body is hand-woven Osier (willow) wicker, cylindrical, wider at the base and tapering slightly toward the top. Barenia leather covers the rim, vertical center stripe, base, and adjustable shoulder strap. Two tones of Barenia are used: a lighter Fauve on the vertical stripe and rim, a darker shade on the strap and edge binding. Contrast white saddle stitching throughout the leather components. A leather horseshoe charm hangs from the strap attachment point, a direct nod to the equestrian heritage that Barenia itself comes from.
The interior is unlined wicker with an attached Barenia leather strap and Gold clip for securing small items like keys or a wallet. Flap closure at top with a leather tab. The double strap configuration allows hand carry by the short top handle or shoulder/crossbody wear via the adjustable long strap. Barenia develops patina over time as it absorbs oils from handling; it is the one leather in this construction that will change character with use, while the wicker remains static.

Collector's Insight: The Farming Picnic was produced in extremely limited numbers for flagship boutiques only during the SS 2015 season. It sits alongside the Picnic Kelly, Picnic Birkin, and Picnic Bolide as part of a broader wicker program, but the bucket silhouette is unique to this piece. There is no leather-only version. Like all Picnic pieces, it requires both a basket weaver and a leather saddler, which limits production volume. Barenia is the correct period leather for 2015 Picnic production; later Picnic pieces transitioned to Swift. Barenia's patina characteristics mean that even pristine examples will age visibly once they begin being handled, which creates a condition premium for unused pieces that have been stored since purchase.
Resale Insight: The Farming Picnic Bucket surfaces less frequently on the secondary market than Picnic Kellys or Birkins because fewer were produced and the format is less widely known. The JaneFinds Beaded Semi-Precious Stone Crossbody Chain is hand-knotted from up to 60 varieties of natural semi-precious stones strung between lobster-clasp hardware at each end. The clasp configuration attaches directly to the sangle hardware of Hermès bags and converts the bag to crossbody or shoulder wear. The chain also functions independently as a long necklace without a bag attached.
Documented stone varieties include amethyst, apatite, carnelian, citrine, emerald, labradorite, lemon quartz, peach moonstone, peridot, Peruvian opal, pink moonstone, prehnite, rose quartz, ruby, sunstone, and tourmaline. Each stone is individually hand-knotted between adjacent stones, securing the strand against bead loss in the event of any single break. Exact stone composition within each colorway varies by piece due to the natural variation of the source materials.
Standard length is 44 inches (112 cm), which produces a crossbody drop appropriate for Hermès bags 25 cm and smaller, including the Mini Kelly 20 II, Kelly Pochette, Constance 18 and 24, and Birkin 25. The chain can be doubled to produce a shorter shoulder drop or wrist-wrap carry, and worn as a standalone necklace at full length. Hardware (Gold or Palladium clasp) is selected at order.
