Hermès Constance 18 Mini III Mirror Bag Black Tadelakt and Ombré Lizard Gold Hardware
Tadelakt is the most demanding smooth calfskin Hermès finishes: glazed to a near-lacquered sheen that shows every mark, which is why the house reserves it for pieces where surface perfection is the point. In Black it reads almost like patent, holding light along the flap and the curve of the gusset.
The H clasp is the event here. Rather than the usual metal or matching calfskin, it is cut from Ombré Lizard, the undyed Varanus salvator hide whose pale belly scales graduate into darker ring markings. A clasp-sized cut demands symmetry across a few centimetres of skin, so the marking has to fall correctly on a piece small enough to hold in a fingertip. Against the black Tadelakt the natural gradation reads as a jewel set into the flap, and gold hardware warms the whole.
A mirror is set into the flap, giving the format its name, and the shoulder strap can be worn long or doubled. The Constance was drawn in 1959 by Catherine Chaillet and named for her daughter, and the 18 is the size the modern market pursues hardest.

Collector's Insight: The Constance is produced in materially smaller numbers than the Birkin or Kelly, and the 18 is the format least often offered at retail. An exotic clasp is rarer still: the H is normally metal or matching leather, so a lizard execution is a deliberate materials decision rather than a standard option, and Ombré is the top tier of lizard because the undyed hide leaves no dye to conceal an irregular marking.
Resale Insight: Mini Constances concentrate demand into the least-produced size, and two-material pieces reach two buyer pools at once, the Constance buyer and the exotics collector. Tadelakt makes condition the governing variable, since the glazed surface records handling and cannot be refinished, which puts pristine examples in a narrow band of the available supply.
