The story behind the Birkin
Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.

Epsom's pressed grain differs from Togo: lighter weight, more rigid structure, highly scratch-resistant surface. The leather holds the Birkin's geometry crisply. Gold Epsom offers the heritage color with structural benefits;lighter carry weight and sharper silhouette than Togo. The pressed grain shows the white contrast stitching cleanly.
