The story behind the Birkin

Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.

On Togo's tumbled grain it holds rich and even, the texture adding depth as light moves across it.

Palladium hardware cools the pink, and at 25 cm the Birkin carries the color in a compact frame.

Collector's Insight:
Rose Pourpre ran for a limited number of seasons, deeper than Rose Shocking and more purple than Rose Extreme.

Resale Insight:
Bright Togo shows color transfer and fading at the corners and handles before a neutral would, so buyers check those first.
