The story behind the Birkin
Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.
Discover Hermès Birkin BagsMauve Sylvestre is a cool floral pink with lilac undertones. Swift takes the color deeply and evenly across its smooth surface, with more pigment density than a grained leather gives, and it renders pastels with a precision that Togo or Epsom would soften.
The trade-off is that Swift shows contact marks more readily than textured leathers. Rose gold hardware adds a warm, pink-toned finish in the same family as the color.
Collector's Insight:
Rose gold hardware is made in far smaller quantities than gold or palladium, and on a pastel pink it keeps the whole bag in one soft register.
