The story behind the Birkin
Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.
Discover Hermès Birkin BagsBright yellows appear on Hermès exotic charts only intermittently, and the matte finish keeps the saturation grounded where a shiny glaze would push it electric. Cool palladium lets the color carry the entire composition.
The 25 is the most compact option in the standard Birkin range. Interior is lined in matching Chevre leather with one zip pocket and one open pocket. Signature turn-lock closure, front flap, and sangles complete the configuration.
Collector's Insight:
Statement yellows are among the least-produced exotic colors, and the 25 is where they photograph best and surface least. Alligator Mississippiensis takes dye with exceptional evenness, which is what a color this demanding requires.
Resale Insight:
Rare-color exotic 25s trade on the specificity of their demand: a small pool of buyers who have usually been hunting the exact shade for years, and who move quickly when it surfaces.
