The Birkin reduced to 15 cm. The Micro appeared in Jean-Paul Gaultier's final collection for Hermès and ran for roughly a year before the house stopped making it, which puts every surviving example in a closed population. At this scale the bag stops being luggage: it will not take a modern phone, so it is carried on its strap as an object in its own right or clipped to the handles of a full size Birkin.

Bleu Celeste is the pale sky blue of the Hermès blue family, cool and clear rather than powdery. Epsom suits it, because the pressed grain holds saturated color without absorbing light and its rigidity is what keeps a bag this small from collapsing into a pouch. White contrast stitching outlines every panel. The rolled handles, the sangles, the touret plate and the front flap with its strap closure all carry over from the full size Birkin at one fifth the scale, and the flap opens to a leather interior with a single flat pocket.

Collector's Insight: The Micro is its own collecting category rather than the bottom of the Birkin size run. Because a 15 cm Birkin is carried decoratively rather than daily, the surviving examples tend to be cleaner than full size bags of the same year, which raises the standard rather than lowering it: on a piece this small a scuffed corner or a soiled sangle is a large proportion of what the eye takes in, and Epsom cannot be refinished the way smooth calfskin can. Bleu Celeste belongs to a run of pale blues Hermès has cycled in and out of the palette rather than kept in continuous production, so a given year's shade cannot simply be reordered.

Resale Insight: A Micro Birkin does not price against carryable Birkins, because nobody is buying it to carry. It trades in the novelty and collectible lane, where the buyer is usually completing a collection rather than acquiring a first bag. That makes color and condition the dominant variables and the audience a narrow one, and it means the useful comparables come from other discontinued novelty formats rather than from the Birkin 25 and 30 market.
