The story behind the Kelly
Created in the 1930s by Robert Dumas as a women's bag with straps: a trapezoid with two triangular gussets, a cutout flap, a handle and two side straps. It took the Kelly name in 1956, when Grace Kelly made it famous. Sellier construction keeps the seams on the outside for a more defined outline; Retourné construction turns them inside for softer edges. The leather does not decide the construction: Box calf Kellys are recorded in both.

On Swift leather, the color achieves full saturation with a smooth, lightly reflective surface, Swift's lack of grain allows the dye to read as even and unbroken across the panels. Gold hardware warms the pink further.
Swift is a smooth calfskin with no embossed texture, producing a sleek surface that shows the leather's natural suppleness. In Retourne construction, the Kelly 25 has soft, rounded edges and internal stitching. Rose Azalée was produced in limited seasonal runs and is no longer in active production. Pristine condition with lock, keys, and clochette.
