Sale price$22,438.00 CAD

Chanel Mini Bucket Bag Faded Metallic Mesh Multicolor Gold Hardware Fall/Winter 2021

Drawstring bucket bag in metal mesh with a graduated multicolor finish ; teal at the rim, shifting through gold and deep purple at center, into blue and emerald green at the base. Chanel designates the material "Faded Metallic Mesh": a fine-gauge metal chainmail with an anodized color treatment applied in horizontal bands that bleed into one another. The effect changes with light and movement as the individual metal links catch and reflect at different angles.

The drawstring closure threads through four gold-tone grommets at the rim, with a small CC charm suspended from the drawstring chain at center front. The shoulder strap is a single gold-tone chain interwoven with burgundy leather, attached at both sides of the rim. The bag is unlined on the interior walls ; the reverse of the metal mesh is visible inside ; with a flat base.

JaneFinds Collector's Insight:
The FW21/22 collection was shown at Chez Castel, a 1960s Parisian nightclub on Rue Princesse ; a deliberate pivot from the Grand Palais, which was closed for renovations. Virginie Viard described the collection as "a mix of two influences: the ambiance of ski holidays, which I adore, and a certain idea of cool Parisian chic, from the 1970s to now." The metallic mesh material appeared across several silhouettes in Act 2, including a Mini Flap Bag (AS2860) in silver. The bucket bag format uses metal mesh without a leather or fabric backing, making it a pure metalwork construction ; the individual links are visible from both exterior and interior. The graduated color treatment is applied before assembly, meaning each panel of mesh is pre-treated and then joined, resulting in slight color variation between individual pieces.

JaneFinds Market Insight:
Original retail was $11,000 USD. Metal mesh construction presents specific condition concerns: individual links can snag and separate if caught on sharp edges; the anodized color finish can wear at high-friction points (particularly the base and corners where the bag rests on surfaces); and the chainmail has no structural rigidity, so the bag takes its shape from its contents. The multicolor gradient variant is less common on the secondary market than solid metallic finishes from the same collection. Storage should avoid compression ; the mesh retains crease lines if folded.
