The story behind the Kelly
Created in the 1930s by Robert Dumas as a women's bag with straps: a trapezoid with two triangular gussets, a cutout flap, a handle and two side straps. It took the Kelly name in 1956, when Grace Kelly made it famous. Sellier construction keeps the seams on the outside for a more defined outline; Retourné construction turns them inside for softer edges. The leather does not decide the construction: Box calf Kellys are recorded in both.
Discover Hermès Kelly BagsThis Kelly 20 Mini II is built in three Epsom neutrals: a Gold body, Nata sangles, and a Noir handle and strap. The three work as one palette rather than competing, and Epsom's pressed grain holds each color evenly.
Inside, the lining is Bleu Saphir lambskin, a hidden fourth color that appears only when the bag opens. Sellier construction keeps the edges sharp, and palladium hardware cools the warm Gold body.

Every extra color on a Mini Kelly adds cutting and assembly work, and a contrast lining like this one adds a detail most versions lack.
