The story behind the Birkin

Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.

The Birkin 30 in Raisin is a sophisticated alternative to black. This deep, refined purple reads as a near neutral, pairing effortlessly with denim, camel, navy, and monochrome looks. Crafted in resilient Togo leather and finished with crisp Palladium hardware, it delivers everyday usability with a quietly striking presence that collectors love.

Collector's Insight:
Raisin sits between classic and statement, making it one of the most wearable Hermès purples. In 30cm, it balances capacity and polish for daily carry while keeping a compact, elegant profile.

Resale Insight:
The Birkin 30 is among the most consistently traded formats in the resale market. In a construction this durable, it is built to be carried regularly rather than saved for occasions.
