Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.

Sellier construction brings the Kelly's outward stitching to the Birkin: sharp edges, stitching visible along every seam and a more rigid, architectural outline than the standard Retourné Birkin.

Mauve Pâle is a soft, powdery pink-lilac, and Epsom's embossed grain holds both the color and the Sellier's crisp lines without softening. Palladium hardware keeps the pastel cool.

Collector's Insight:
The Sellier Birkin arrived after several years of development following an early prototype, and Epsom is the leather best suited to it, rigid enough to hold the outward-stitched edges.

Resale Insight:
Pale Epsom resists scratches but shows marks and color transfer at the corners and handles, which are the first places buyers look.
