The Birkin Sellier is a meaningful departure from standard Birkin construction. Where the classic Birkin uses Retourné stitching with edges turned inside during assembly to produce softer, rounded corners, Sellier construction places the saddle stitch on the exterior, creating sharper architecture and visible topstitching. Hermès debuted Sellier Birkin construction in 2014 with the 40cm Vache Hunter, then took five additional years of atelier development before releasing 25cm and 30cm formats with full interior lining. Gold is the warm cognac-tan Hermès has produced since the 1960s, one of the house's foundational colors. On Epsom the color reads with the leather's characteristic embossed grain holding pigment uniformly across the structured surface, with Sellier construction further amplifying Epsom's architectural quality.
