The story behind the Birkin
Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.
Discover Hermès Birkin BagsRose gold gives the hardware a pink warmth that neither gold nor palladium has. Against Noir the tone reads quietly at a distance and clearly up close, and it carries through every fitting, down to the keys in the clochette.
Two straps cross the flap and close at the turn-lock, with the padlock hanging beside the leather clochette. The rolled handles rise over the compact 25 body, and four rose gold feet protect the base. Inside, the bag is lined in matching Chèvre, with one zip pocket and one open pocket.
Togo's pebbled grain holds the bag's shape and resists marks in regular use. This example shows no use yet: protective plastic is still on the turn-lock.
Collector's Insight:
Noir Togo is the Birkin's foundational specification. Rose gold hardware changes the bag's character without changing that versatility.
Resale Insight:
Buyers compare Noir Togo 25s on the corners, the handles and the hardware plating. With rose gold, they also check that the color is even across every fitting.
