The story behind the Birkin
Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.
Discover Hermès Birkin BagsWhile Hermès is known for their incredible colors, classic black is always staple in a premier collection, especially in exotic skins. This 30cm Matte Porosus Crocodile Birkin is done in Black with Gold hardware and kept in store fresh condition with plastic on hardware.
The 30cm is the balanced silhouette valued for its capacity as a functional day bag. Interior is lined in matching Chevre leather with one zip pocket and one open pocket. Signature turn-lock closure, front flap, and sangles complete the hardware configuration.
Collector's Insight:
Porosus Crocodile production is constrained by raw material scarcity and limited annual output. Allocation within Hermès exotic bag production is among the most selective in the house.
Resale Insight:
The Birkin 30 is among the most consistently traded formats in the resale market. In a durable leather like Porosus Crocodile, it is built to be carried regularly rather than saved for occasions.
