Hermès Kelly Pochette Vert Emeraude Shiny Alligator Gold Hardware

Kelly Pochette in Vert Emeraude (6Q) Shiny Alligator Mississippiensis with gold hardware. The shiny (Lisse) finish on alligator is produced by hand-buffing the skin with a smooth agate stone ; a process that draws out the leather's natural oils to create its mirror-like sheen. There is no applied glaze or coating, which means the finish will not chip or peel, but it is sensitive to water spotting and will show fine surface scratches more readily than matte alligator.

Alligator Mississippiensis is sourced from American alligator farms. Its scale pattern is characterized by smaller, more symmetrical tiles than Niloticus crocodile, with a uniform rectangular arrangement across the body panels. On the Kelly Pochette's flat front surface, the scale pattern reads with particular clarity due to the uninterrupted expanse of leather. Vert Emeraude is a saturated, true emerald green ; deeper and cooler than Vert Jade, brighter and less yellow than Cactus (which is the matte equivalent in tone).

Front flap with sangles, tournante closure, and single flat top handle. Interior lined in Vert Emeraude Swift calfskin with one open wall pocket. The Kelly Pochette carries as a top-handle clutch; it has no shoulder strap and no removable strap option.

JaneFinds Collector's Insight:
The Kelly Pochette was introduced in 2004 as part of Jean-Paul Gaultier's first collection for Hermès. It is the smallest Kelly silhouette ; a structured clutch without the shoulder strap of the Mini Kelly II or the depth of the Kelly 25. It does not include a lock, keys, or clochette ; the tournante closure operates without them. In shiny alligator, the Kelly Pochette functions closer to jewelry than a handbag: the gloss, scale definition, and compact format position it as an evening or occasion piece. Vert Emeraude is one of the most requested green shades in exotic skins because the shiny finish amplifies its depth and saturation.

JaneFinds Market Insight:
The Kelly Pochette in shiny alligator is among the most allocation-restricted pieces Hermès produces ; exotic pochettes are offered infrequently and not available on request. Exotic Kelly Pochettes require a CITES certificate (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) for international transport. Buyers should confirm documentation is included or obtainable before traveling with the bag across borders.
