Hermès Kelly Doll Quelle Idole Orange H Gulliver Palladium Hardware

The original Kelly Doll, designed by Jean-Louis Dumas and released in 2000 to mark the millennium. The Kelly's architecture is reinterpreted as a figurative form: the turnlock becomes the nose, the sangles function as arms, and sculpted leather feet allow the piece to stand upright. A fully articulated character built from the Kelly's structural vocabulary. No strap on the original generation; this is a handheld-only piece, unlike the later Picto reissue.

Orange H Gulliver. Orange H is the house's signature color, and Gulliver, the discontinued predecessor to Swift, absorbs dye with a saturation and depth that gives the orange a richness modern leathers don't replicate. Gulliver was retired in the early 2000s, which means every first-generation Kelly Doll in this leather comes from the initial production window. Palladium hardware.

Collector's Insight: Orange H was one of eight colorways in the original 2000 Kelly Doll release (alongside Rouge H, Noir, Noisette, Bleu Saphir, Vert Olive, Vert Cru, and Rouge Vif). The entire first generation was produced in Gulliver leather, discontinued shortly after. Because the Kelly Doll itself was retired by 2005, the total production window for Gulliver examples spans at most five years. Orange H is the most symbolically loaded color Hermès offers, and on the Kelly Doll it carries the additional weight of being the original-run material in the house's signature shade.

Resale Insight: First-generation Kelly Dolls in Gulliver leather have averaged close to $45,000 at auction in recent years, with pink examples exceeding $95,000. Orange H holds particular appeal as the house color on the millennium piece. Pristine condition on a 25-year-old Gulliver piece indicates careful storage. Includes lock only, no box or dust bag, which is typical for vintage Kelly Dolls that have been in private collections for decades.
