The Anate Fringe series entered the Hermès special-edition catalog as a Fall/Winter 2023 release. Leather strips emerge from the gusset seams in graduated lengths, with the fringe constructed into the architecture rather than applied as trim. Sellier construction places stitching on the exterior, producing the crisp top-stitched edges typically associated with the Kelly silhouette and rendering a structured counterpoint to the kinetic side panels.
Noir Evercolor reads matte across the body; light absorbs into the fine grain rather than reflecting off it, which keeps the fringe pattern legible against the surface. Palladium hardware holds the cool register of the leather without warming the palette. The Birkin 35 Sellier is produced in lower volume than the 35 Retourné and lower volume than the 25 and 30 Sellier formats.

The Birkin 35 Sellier is the largest format Hermès has executed the Anate Fringe construction in. The standard Anate body across the series has been Evergrain; this Noir example in Evercolor represents a production variant within the same series — same fringe construction, different leather body, smaller documented production count than the Evergrain Anates. Special-edition Birkin formats with structural design intervention (Cargo, Faubourg, Anate Fringe) sit outside the standard production cycle and do not return to inventory once allocated.
Resale Insight:
Limited-edition B35 with structural design intervention trades above standard production B35 pricing on the secondary market in pristine condition. Sellier construction adds a configuration premium over Retourné at this size.
