Hermès Steeple 31 Quadriga H Canvas Fauve Barenia Tote
Hermès Steeple 31 Quadriga H Canvas Fauve Barenia Tote
The wood-handle Steeple belongs to the equestrian capsule Hermès released in the early 2010s, before the current Swift-handled cabas line took the name. Its handles are braided from micocoulier, the hackberry wood of the house's saddlery workshops, shaped after the rider's crop, and the fittings that anchor them are cut from Fauve Barenia in the form of stirrups. The body is Toile H canvas carrying the Quadriga horse-head print in grey-beige, three saddlery materials joined in one carryall.
At 31, this is the largest format the design was produced in, an open tote with an interior pocket that carries by hand or over the shoulder. The Barenia elements will patinate with handling the way the leather always has, deepening from fauve toward chestnut, while the printed canvas holds its contrast. A large Baginizer organizer is included, fitted to the open interior.

Collector's Insight:
The wood-handle Steeple was a limited production, and surviving examples surface rarely on the secondary market, most often in the Marine colorway with black leather. The Quadriga print version with Fauve Barenia is the scarcer configuration, and it concentrates more of the house's equestrian vocabulary in one object than nearly anything else in the catalog: saddle leather, saddlery wood, crop, stirrup, and horse motif together.
Resale Insight:
Hermès toile pieces trade on print and provenance rather than hardware, and limited-edition equestrian objects draw the collector building around the house's riding heritage rather than the bag-of-the-season buyer. A pristine example of a short-run design that no longer appears at retail carries its scarcity plainly, and the fitted organizer makes it a working tote rather than a shelf piece.
