The story behind the Plume
Designed in the 1960s as Hermès' first all-leather luggage, to make travel lighter. A rectangular bag drawn from 1920s document holders, with two handles and a long zipper, since made in sizes down to a mini.
Clad in Matte Alligator Vert D'eau and adorned with matching Palladium Hardware, this bag is a rare gem, highly coveted by collectors for its distinctive sheen and the unique place it holds in Hermes history. Expertly complemented and providing a whole new level of usability with our JANEFINDS Mariner Crossbody Chain.
Interior is lined in matching leather. Hermès craftsmanship is evident in the hand-stitched saddle stitch, a technique that uses two needles working in opposite directions through pre-punched holes. Each piece is completed by a single artisan.
Collector's Insight:
Matte Alligator production is constrained by raw material scarcity and limited annual output. Allocation within Hermès exotic bag production is among the most selective in the house.
Resale Insight:
Accessories in high-demand colors and materials like this continue to see strong performance on the secondary market due to limited boutique availability.
