The story behind the Plume

Designed in the 1960s as Hermès' first all-leather luggage, to make travel lighter. A rectangular bag drawn from 1920s document holders, with two handles and a long zipper, since made in sizes down to a mini.

This example is rendered in Chèvre Mysore, a goat leather prized for its lightweight durability, distinct spine grain, and slight sheen. The color is Rose Sakura, a soft cherry-blossom pink that gains a luminous quality on the textured goat skin.

Without overt branding, the Plume relies on its silhouette and construction. It features a secure zip-top closure and an extended handle drop for hand or crook-of-the-arm carry. Chèvre makes the bag light to carry while being significantly more scratch-resistant than Swift or Box.

Collector's Insight:
Chèvre Mysore is rarely used for non-quota bags today, which makes this Plume a textural rarity. Combined with Rose Sakura, the bag sits between a functional daily piece and a collector's one.

Resale Insight:
The Plume is historically a quiet performer, but examples in colors buyers actively look for, like Rose Sakura, move faster. This combination pairs a sought color with a shape that has never depended on being current.
