The story behind the Kelly

Created in the 1930s by Robert Dumas as a women's bag with straps: a trapezoid with two triangular gussets, a cutout flap, a handle and two side straps. It took the Kelly name in 1956, when Grace Kelly made it famous. Sellier construction keeps the seams on the outside for a more defined outline; Retourné construction turns them inside for softer edges. The leather does not decide the construction: Box calf Kellys are recorded in both.

Its brightness is unmatched, drawing on the zestiness of tart mediterranean citrus. This Mini Kelly in Chèvre leather features cool Palladium hardware and has been kept in unused condition since its production.

Shown with the perfectly matched Cuban Crossbody Chain from the JANEFINDS Accessories Collection.

Collector's Insight:
The Kelly 20 Mini in Lime Chèvre carries the lineage of the original 1930s sac à dépêches, renamed the Kelly in 1956.

Resale Insight:
The market demand for Kelly bags, particularly in the 20cm size, continues to outpace supply. This specific configuration is a staple for collectors seeking a balance of heritage and contemporary style.
