The story behind the Bolide

Hermès dates the Bolide to 1923 and ties its rounded, zipped design to motor travel; it was the first Hermès bag closed by a zipper. Made in miniature, handbag and travel sizes.

The red lacing is applied piece by piece and hand-stitched rather than printed or embroidered. At 45 cm it is the travel size, with double rolled handles, a detachable shoulder strap, a canvas-lined interior and five palladium feet.

Collector's Insight:
The Baseball Bolide was part of a sports-themed capsule and made in a small number of colorways for a single season.

Resale Insight:
Pale Evercolor shows soiling at the base and corners, and the raised lacing takes knocks, so buyers check both, along with the handles.
