The story behind the Birkin
Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.

Palladium keeps the temperature cool, letting the green do the talking.
The 35 is one of the two original 1984 Birkin proportions, the working scale with genuine day-bag capacity. Turn-lock closure, front flap, and sangles complete the configuration, and this example wears its use lightly.
Collector's Insight:
Only a handful of colors hold permanent places in the Hermès palette; greens cycle through in seasonal windows, and Canopée's window belongs to the early 2010s. Once a color rotates out, the examples produced during its run are the supply, which is why specific greens develop followings that outlast their seasons.
