The story behind the Birkin
Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.
Discover Hermès Birkin BagsTogo is the house's most popular grained calfskin, valued for its scratch resistance and ability to hold structure while developing a soft, lived-in character over time.
The 30cm is the balanced silhouette valued for its capacity as a functional day bag. Interior is lined in matching Chevre leather with one zip pocket and one open pocket. Signature turn-lock closure, front flap, and sangles complete the hardware configuration.
Collector's Insight:
The Birkin 30 in Blue Nuit Orange Poppy Togo represents the core of the Hermès handbag program. Production quantities are not disclosed by the house, and retail acquisition requires an established purchase history with a Hermès boutique.
Resale Insight:
The Birkin 30 is among the most consistently traded formats in the resale market. In a durable leather like Togo, it is built to be carried regularly rather than saved for occasions.
