The story behind the Birkin
Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.
Discover Hermès Birkin BagsWhile some hues have been mainstays for decades, others are rare gems, making fleeting appearances for a single season before vanishing into legend. Blue Jean, one of these iconic colors, returns in 2024 to effect. This seemingly simple yet perfect shade of blue reveals a myriad of subtle variations, making it truly exceptional. The gold hardware on this 25cm Birkin, paired with contrast white stitching and luxurious Togo leather, elevates Blue Jean to an level of elegance and modernity.
Collector's Insight:
Blue Jean remains a perennial favorite among Hermès collectors, especially in the rare 25cm Birkin format. The interplay of gold hardware and crisp contrast stitching adds to its enduring allure.
Resale Insight:
The Birkin 25 is among the most consistently traded formats in the resale market. In a durable leather like Togo, it is built to be carried regularly rather than saved for occasions.
