The story behind the Vanity Case
Karl Lagerfeld's version of the travel cosmetic case, first made by Chanel in the early 1990s: a structured, boxy quilted case with a zip that runs all the way around and a short top handle. Later versions add a chain shoulder strap.
Discover ChanelWarm natural wood meets the house's most familiar leather, and the round vanity, one of Chanel's defining shapes of recent years, gives the wood a form it had not taken before. Inside, quilted black lambskin lines the case, with a flap pocket that recalls the classic flap bag. The gold chain carries it crossbody or on the shoulder, and without it the case works as a hand-held minaudière.
