The story behind the Birkin Cargo
Introduced in 2021. Adds exterior pockets to the standard Birkin silhouette in a toile-and-leather construction.
Read the Birkin Cargo referenceOn the Cargo it lives in the Toile Goéland canvas, framed in Noir Swift along the flap edges, the straps, the handles and the corners.
The Cargo adds outer pockets to the Birkin without touching its closure: a snap coin pocket on the front and slip pockets at the sides, both edged in Swift, and a Swift card pocket on the back. Above them sit the flap and two straps closing on the turn-lock, a clochette holding the padlock and two keys, and double rolled handles. Tonal stitching keeps the seams quiet, and the lining repeats the Vert Mangrove canvas with Noir Swift.
Canvas makes the Cargo lighter in hand than an all-leather Birkin, while the Swift frame takes the handling at the edges, where a canvas bag needs it.
Collector's Insight:
Vert Mangrove entered the range in spring 2025, so a K stamp places this example in the color's first production year. On the Cargo the canvas carries the color, which makes the color the defining choice.
Resale Insight:
Canvas shows wear first at the corners and pocket edges, which is where buyers look on any Cargo. This one is unworn, with protective plastic still on the hardware.
